Blame Vince McMahon.

That sounds like a bit of a cop out, doesn't it? After all, everyone knows the buck stops with McMahon, so blaming him for some creative flub is hardly original. In this instance, it's true. The abominable 'Funkasaurus' Brodus Clay would never have happened had Vince not found the big man so damn hilarious backstage.

On Robbie E's 'Why It Ended' podcast (which is always worth a listen, for the record), Brodus told how Triple H envisioned him turning into a menacing heel. He encouraged Clay to act big time, so Brodus started turning up to work in white suits. Though that was supposed to make him a "Kingpin", it tickled the boss.

McMahon, who also found Brodus' jokes hilarious, quizzed Triple H on Clay's ability to play a dominating heel. After that, all bets were off. Clay was turned into the comedic 'Funkasaurus' character, given Ernest Miller's old music and told by Vince to let it all hang out.
