10 Wrestling Facts We Didn’t Know Last Week (Jan 29)

1. Ted DiBiase Was Hungover During The 1990 Royal Rumble

Ted DiBiase was horrified upon plonking his bags down in the Orlando Arena on January 21, 1990. Following a long night out drinking, the 'Million Dollar Man' was under the impression that he was in for an easy night as part of the Royal Rumble bout. DiBiase knew he'd be the first to enter the match, but figured he'd be eliminated early. It was Pat Patterson who informed him that things were going to play out differently to what he may expect. Telling the wrestler not to eat too much that day, Patterson then revealed that DiBiase was going to last a long time in the Rumble, around 45 minutes in fact. This was terrible news for Ted, who was still hungover from the night before. Telling Ring Rust Radio that he was completely sober by the time he hit the ring, DiBiase started to sweat out his hangover quickly. In total, he lasted 44 minutes and 47 seconds, a then-record for a Royal Rumble match participant. Eventually, he was eliminated by The Ultimate Warrior, and likely regretted those last few drinks at the bar the previous evening. What other big wrestling facts did you learn this week?
