10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Jan 8)

10. Dean Ambrose Loved Roddy Piper vs. Hulk Hogan In WCW

In 1996, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper faced Hollywood Hogan at Starrcade. WCW's biggest show of the year was marred by the fact that Piper ridiculously didn't request for the WCW World Title to be on the line during the bout. Even though he won, Piper didn't necessarily achieve what he had said he would, which was destroying the core of the nWo. Someone who is often compared to Piper was watching that night, and absolutely loved what he was seeing. Dean Ambrose has been likened to the recently-passed Canadian, something which he takes as a compliment. Speaking on the Chad Dukes Wrestling Show this week, Ambrose spoke of his admiration for Piper vs. Hogan. Considering the age of both men at the time, Ambrose feels the match could have been a disaster. It was certainly better than Hogan vs. Warrior would later be in 1998. For the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Piper's brawling style was timeless, and it was obvious that Roddy had something to prove going up against Hogan in 1996.
