"You look fly today".

Those lyrics come from the original Too Cool entrance theme, and they should get even the most jaded fan shaking his/her booty like it's 2000 all over again and someone just handed Rikishi his shades. Funnily enough, "You look fly today" is definitely not something Vince Russo told Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay in 1999 when he pitched the gimmick.

In fact, Russo wanted them to be decidedly uncool. Scotty dished this news on Edge and Christian's 'Pod Of Awesomeness'. His words will have anyone who liked those bucket hats, cheap plastic sunglasses and oversized boiler suit-style outfits questioning their fashion sense.

Russo looked at the underground cool of The Hardy Boyz and thought, 'I want the complete opposite of that'. To him, Too Cool were anything but.

Scotty and Grandmaster's initial mission statement called for them to analyse Matt and Jeff, look at their style and then consciously try to get as far away from that as possible. Vince Russo credit incoming: that's genius, and it changed the careers of both guys forever.
