10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (May 29)

9. Stevie Ray Signs WWE Legend Deal

Ask the average WWE fan to name a legend from the WCW era, and it's likely someone like Sting or Ric Flair will come up in conversation. Even the likes of Kevin Nash and Goldberg may get a mention, but there's little chance that the name Stevie Ray would pass anyone's lips. That's not criticism of the man himself, but he wasn't a household name in the promotion, even if he had longevity and an awesome run alongside his brother, Booker T as the tag-team 'Harlem Heat'. This past week, Ray alerted followers via social media that he had put pen to paper on a WWE Legends deal. This type of contract usually makes performers available for use in WWE video games, and means they will act as an ambassador of sorts for the company. There is speculation that WWE could be about to offer Stevie Ray a role as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center, mainly due to his work alongside Booker T at their own pro wrestling academy in Houston, Texas. The departure of Bill DeMott has maybe freed up a slot, one that Ray could fill nicely, but it's expected that he will be used to make public appearances and represent the promotion in interviews.
