In front of millions watching at home and a jam-packed Georgia Dome, Bill Goldberg defeated Hollywood Hogan on the July 6, 1998 episode of WCW's Monday Nitro. Winning the WCW World Title by virtue of his victory, Goldberg was undeniably one of the hottest names in the pro wrestling world. WCW wanted to capitalise on that - they weren't alone.

On a recent edition of his Bischoff On Wrestling podcast, Eric Bischoff was joined by Hulk Hogan to discuss Goldberg's big win. Over the years, many have wondered why Bischoff and company neglected to promote such a massive match on pay-per-view, giving it away on free television instead.

Bischoff claims he would do the same thing all over again, because that's exactly what Nitro was all about. Going further, he then said that it was actually Hogan's idea from the start.

Battling with himself, Hulk wasn't sure whether or not he should do the right thing and capitalise on Goldberg's momentum or keep hold of the belt for himself. In the end, he chose to drop the title and do so on TV rather than pay-per-view.
