The final few months of 2002 were a bit odd. In between the nasty Katie Vick business, phoney gay weddings and Eric Bischoff snogging the face off of Stephanie McMahon, WWE had The Un-Americans. The anti-Old Glory group even had their own inverted version of the US flag.

Originally, it was an all-Canadian affair run by Lance Storm, Christian and Test. Then, William Regal added a splash of English manners to the mix, and, according to Bruce Prichard on Something To Wrestle With, he was the only one who fancied getting serious with it.

Nobody else in the faction liked the genuine heat coming their way from fans, and they were worried for their safety.

The fact they were "afraid of heat" (Prichard's words) irked WWE's creative team. They didn't want to put their all into making The Un-American idea work if the actual talent themselves weren't willing to go all the way with it. Unlike Regal, Storm, Test and Christian got cold feet.
