On the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, even microphone maestro Paul Heyman couldn't save his segment with Brock Lesnar from going down like a lead balloon. Originally, WWE wanted Lesnar to be the clear heel in his feud opposite Bill Goldberg. Meanwhile, the former WCW man would fill the sympathetic babyface role.

Things didn't pan out that way, fans in Minneapolis cheered for Brock and actually chanted 'Goldberg Sucks' over and over again. Watching at home, Eric Bischoff couldn't believe that a company as meticulous as WWE had been so short-sighted in their approach to the skit. Bischoff said as much on his 'Bischoff On Wrestling' podcast.

Casting Lesnar as a heel in a city that cherishes him was a mistake in Eric's mind. Admitting that he rarely checked to see which location WCW was in when writing television, Bischoff nonetheless stated his surprise that WWE overlooked such a nuance.

Previously, Bischoff had been complementary of Bill Goldberg's appearance on Raw the week before. On this occasion, the former WCW head believed not even Heyman could talk his way out of such an ill-conceived scenario.
