Cody Rhodes is no longer on the WWE payroll as an in-ring performer, but he is contracted by the company to pen a book about his legendary father. One of the most iconic, larger-than-life wrestlers in history, the 'American Dream' Dusty Rhodes had a presence about him few could match. It must have been deceptively difficult for Cody to try and carve his own legacy.

This is something Rhodes has admitted before, and he did so again during an interview with the WNS Podcast. There were scant few times when Cody felt he had earned the appreciation of his dad, at least openly. WrestleMania XXVII was one of those times.

Following his match with Rey Mysterio on the show, Rhodes conferred with his peer behind the scenes. Out of the corner of his eye, Cody could see Dusty take a quick snap of the meeting on his phone. For perhaps the first time, the son who had grown up idolising his father believed he had made a fan out of the old man.

It's clear that this was a special moment for Cody, adding to the fact 'Mania XXVII marked his first major singles match on WWE pay-per-view.
