10 Wrestling Gimmicks That Were NOTHING Like The Wrestlers Who Portrayed Them

In 2016, AJ Styles made history by becoming the first performer to appear at Wrestle Kingdom and WrestleMania in the same year. Three months apart, 'The Phenomenal One' shone on the industry's two biggest stages, cementing overdue plaudits as the most vital performer in the entire industry.

It was a magnificent achievement, but even Styles can't lay claim to one of Kane's achievements should the 'Big Red Machine' win the Knox County mayoral election later this year. And based on how much he p*ssed himself at Kid Rock's "bodyslam some democrats" gag at the Hall Of Fame, he'd be jealous too.

Kane could assume office just months removed from competing for the WWE Title on one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year as a mentally scarred monster. A Royal Rumble loser in a triple threat with Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman he may well have been, but who's to say the extra spotlight from WWE didn't nudge a few extra votes in his direction, and won't again should he somehow appear on camera between now and the General Election in August?

WWE have been unusually apolitical since the inauguration of President Trump, but Mayor Kane seems a like a big red bandwagon they'd happily jump aboard.
