10 Wrestling Legal Battles That Turned Ugly

6. WWE Doctor Chris Amann Vs. CM Punk & Colt Cabana

Vince McMahon Legal Trouble
WWE

In May 2018, CM Punk and Colt Cabana will appear in court in defence of a defamation lawsuit placed against them by WWE's staff medic Dr Chris Amann for comments Punk made during his explosive 'Art Of Wrestling' podcast two-parter in late-2014.

Speaking in huge detail on his rancorous exit from Vince McMahon's organisation for the first time, Punk dug deep into the complexities of his departure and various issues during his time with the company, alleging bouts of emotional and physical negligence that included a serious allegation of gross incompetence by Dr. Amann for overlooking a staph infection Punk professed to have worked with for months.

The case drew controversy for targeting both Punk and his best friend Colt, in a seemingly cynical attempt to bring down the fiscally-weaker Cabana and his miniature empire. Punk's claims that Vince McMahon himself was bankrolling the suit only served to reportedly sour relations between the Chicagoans when Cabana visited friends at a Monday Night Raw taping.

With the case parked amidst constant rumours that CM Punk may make a surprising WWE return, it's always possible that proceedings may be dropped upon his reemergence before the meeting in court. Without that, Punk and Cabana are left to fight an expensive battle to ensure the comments made remain rooted in truth and purity rather than speculation and undermined rhetoric.
