10 Wrestling Matches Better Than The One Thing You Remember Them For

6. The Shield Vs. Kane & The New Age Outlaws (WrestleMania XXX)

Known for: Being a waste of the company's second-hottest act on its biggest night.

Why it's better than that: The squash match is a classic wrestling staple which isn't used enough in the modern era. This is understandable - with so much competition on the internet, TV, and streaming services, WWE is forced to top-load their heavy TV presence with stars. Still, a revival of the trend would go some way towards solving the many problems 50/50 booking brings with it.

This match, a thrilling exhibition of dives and inventive double-team manoeuvres, is a great update of the adrenaline-fuelled Steiner Brothers squash matches with which they forged their fearsome reputation.

In a perfect world, the Shield Vs. Wyatt Family series would have been carried forward a month, and Cena would have been the last man eliminated from the André The Giant Battle Royal to both legitimise Cesaro, and the match itself. Still, as dispiriting as it was on the night, the decision to have The Shield absolutely decimate their past-it rivals was a sound one in retrospect. By not having to sell incongruously for them, it fully prepared the Hounds of Justice as credible face threats in their subsequent series with Evolution.
