10 Wrestling Matches Neither Wrestler Could Afford To Lose
7. Sid Justice vs. Hulk Hogan (WWF WrestleMania VIII)
Here's the one screwy finish on the list that was even screwier than it was supposed to be.
As legend has it, Sid Justice knocked back Vince McMahon's pitch that he become "the next Hulk Hogan" because he wanted to play heel. That led to a match between Sid and Hulk at WrestleMania VIII, and some must've wondered if the WWF would book a second Hogan 'Mania loss in three years.
They wouldn't – they'd go for a Papa Shango run in that would be cancelled out by The Ultimate Warrior's return. Unfortunately, Shango missed his cue, was late running to the ring and Sid had to kick out of Hulk's finisher before he got there so the match could continue. That left everyone scrambling and working a hastily put-together disqualification finish.
Remove that botch from the equation and it's still true that neither Hogan nor Sid could afford to lose. Again, Hulk had already lost at WrestleMania VI to Warrior, and Justice would've looked like a loser had to come up short definitively.
