10 Wrestling Matches That Changed Fans Opinions On Certain Wrestlers

9. Shane McMahon Vs Steve Blackman (WWE SummerSlam 2000)

Shane O Mac's transition from spoilt rich kid to human crash test dummy took place in style at SummerSlam 2000.

The boss' son had beaten Steve Blackman for the Hardcore Championship a week earlier and The Lethal Weapon was out for revenge. Their match was a wild affair that saw Test and Albert interfere on Shane's behalf before Young Simba tried to escape Blackman by climbing up part of the set.

Big mistake.

After Blackman had caught up with him, he struck Shane several times in the back with a kendo stick. This caused him to plummet a supposed 50ft to the floor below in one of the most spectacular stunts in WWE history.

Shane might have lost the title that night, but he gained a whole lot more. Fans who had seen him as an arrogant rich kid who used his daddy's money to get out of scrapes now saw him as someone prepared to take insane bumps to entertain them.

This persona stuck with Shane right through his career; the dive at Backlash 2001, his King of the Ring match against Kurt Angle, his two falls off Hell in a Cell - all of that started right here.
