The need to apologise for recency bias in articles typically arises when wrestling or wrestlers have done something very very good indeed. At the peak of the hype, it's easy (and wonderful) to get swept up in the magic of the moment and suggest something is the "best ever" or other adjacent superlative.

Have the prior two sentences set up the swerve here? Or has this entry thus far been about as effective as the f*cking Swamp Fight?

An icky coagulation of the worst contrivances of the cinematic match genre, Bray Wyatt's worst instincts and this godforsaken feud, the Horror Show At Extreme Rules main event wasn't the most egregious bit of booking from the show, but it requested a suspension of disbelief lightyears beyond pro wrestling and just about anything WWE have asked for in 2020.

P*ss poor acting saw a series of skits inelegantly glued together in such a way that only really served over-worked reddit sleuths that wanted to break it all down into chapters or find an easy point to pause at exactly the right time to unzip their trousers for the return of Sister Abigail.

WWE told us we didn't have to endure this again when Bray himself drove a chainsaw through the old Wyatt gimmick - as transparent a burial as they've got in them. All this talk this year about the New Normal, and we somehow got another half an hour of the worst from the old.
