Regardless of the folks involved, the idea of a sledgehammer ladder match didn't exactly set fans' hearts on fire back in December 2011.

Ladder matches are generally won by unhooking a precious item hanging high above the ring - a title, briefcase, that sort of thing.

But in this hammer-variant, once that "badass" weapon was retrieved, the odd match just carried on until someone was pinned or submitted.

In reality, the only reason a ladder was chucked into this unwanted Kevin Nash and Triple H equation was because of the bloody name on the PLE, and the silly contest that followed was as dull, long, and forgettable as you'd expect.

Even if this was booked as simply your average No Holds Barred war, though, very few honestly gave a damn about the Kliq buddies bringing their perplexing rivalry to an end at TLC anyway.

The pair had already successfully derailed the white hot Summer of Punk, and once a potential match between 'The Best in the World' and 'Big Daddy Cool' fell through before Night of Champions - due to Nash failing his medical tests - most would have been happy to just move on from the whole text message saga.

But no, WWE still insisted on bringing this unwanted program to an end under sledgehammer ladder rulez, booking a plodding and rather boring near-20-minute showdown for the event.
