10 Wrestling Matches We Need To See On AEW TV
With All Out officially all over, what matches are next on the card for AEW on TNT?
After a memorable night in AEW's history, next on the horizon is the debut on TNT. With NXT rubbing side by side with them on USA, there is more pressure than ever to make their Wednesday night offering something spectacular. Thankfully, the old saying goes: pressure creates diamonds.
That is the brilliance of competition: the fans are the real winners in all this.
Although appearing at only one event in Chicago over All Out's weekend, Phil Brooks still addressed the world of wrestling. In fact he may have given the world a guide for how to handle AEW and WWE going forward. As CM Punk said at Starrcast, "you don't have to choose, you can f*****g watch it all! And that's rad."
Well said, Mr. Punk. We almost forgive you for not returning.
Just kidding. We are wrestling fans after all.
No matter what your television is tuned to on Wednesday night, this is going to force some amazing matches by both sides. And on the AEW side, there are already some great potential ones materializing right in time for TV. Some that will make for great television further down the road.
All you have to do now, as CM Punk says, is "watch all the s*** that's out there."
10. Riho Vs. Nyla Rose
This one is a guarantee, already set for the 2 October debut in Washington, D.C. After Nyla's victory in the women's battle royale and Riho's win over Hikaru Shida, one of these two will walk out AEW's first women's champion.
But the rest of the road there is what makes this an interesting one to watch for. The tiny 98 pound Riho already stole a victory over the much larger Rose at Fyter Fest in a triple threat with Yuka Sakazaki. Sure, Yuka and Riho teamed up, but a victory is a victory. Especially when you are keeping records for each wrestler.
This understated storytelling can make this match feel a little more special without having to make them outright feud. AEW aren't following the strict four week feuding pattern WWE adheres to more recently. This allows for some more organically built stories to develop.
With Nyla being in her hometown and coming off a battle royale where she eliminated 10 people, all expectation leads to the story of Rose becoming the first champion.
This is the perfect environment to make Riho surprise everyone and escape with the gold. The David versus Goliath complex will always have a place in wrestling. Rey Mysterio is a prime example.
Classic, simple storylines if executed well are brilliant. For example...
