10 Wrestling Moves Wrestlers Refused To Take
7. Kurt Angle - Going Over The Top Rope
Of all the moves you'd think a wrestler would be terrified of taking, you wouldn't expect being sent tumbling over the top rope to be near the top of many performer's lists. Yet, in the case of the only Olympic Gold medalist in WWE history Kurt Angle, you bet your *ss his fear of flying over the rope backwards is true... it's damn true.
As the former WWE Champion revealed on his podcast recently, Angle was always "a wuss" when it came to the aforementioned manoeuvre. Though he'd ultimately end up biting the bullet on occasion, for the most part, Angle tried his level best to steer clear of the seemingly basic move. As he put it, "I’m afraid to go backward over the top of the rope. I always have to turn my head over. I was always scared of doing it, I never really learned how."
When you take into account that this statement is coming from a star who used to quite happily backflip off the top of a steel cage, it is rather amazing to discover that Angle would quite happily refuse to play ball should someone pitch him being sent out of the ring backwards via the top rope.
