10 Wrestling Podcasts Every WWE Fan Should Listen To
5. What Happened When
Tony Schiavone was one of the most recognisable voices in wrestling during the boom of the Monday Night Wars. Graduating from Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA to Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling in the late '80s, Schiavone became the soundtrack for a generation of wrestling fans in the 1990s.
Sadly, Tony slipped out of the global spotlight after WCW went down in 2001, appearing only on the rarest occasions since. Luckily for the wrestling world, he has now resurfaced, thanks in large part to wrestling podcast royalty, Conrad Thomson. Better still, the Tony we know now is totally unfiltered and completely unedited, making for a tremendously entertaining podcast.
With each show dedicated to a single topic, Conrad Thomson ironically acts as Schiavone's play-by-play guy, leading the former announcer through each subject while Tony provides the colour in between with his comments. The results are simply awesome; the "no f***s given" mentality of Schiavone elevates an entertaining format into an absolutely spectacular show.
Humble, honest and unassuming, the voice of WCW is hilariously candid and irreverent, resulting in a can't miss show that is destination audio for anyone that loved JCP, WCW or the Monday Night Wars.
