10 Wrestling Returns That Must Happen In 2023

3. CM Punk

The Rock WWE SmackDown
AEW

After a tumultuous but mostly excellent 2022, CM Punk may feel like his time in wrestling has come to an end. 'Brawl Out' may be one of the most memorable moments of the year, but the acrimonious nature of the event may mean that he no longer has a future in AEW.

If this is the case then fans can at least look back at his time in the company as one of the best year-long runs in wrestling history. His debut was one of the finest pieces of wrestling television that have been produced, whilst his feuds with Eddie Kingston and MJF allowed fans to remember just how great of a performer Punk is at his best.

Whilst a feud with The Elite would cause a meltdown in the wrestling world, it has become far too unlikely that he will ever return to the company. It has also become far more likely that he could join WWE, as the change in leadership and his own circumstances may inspire Punk to do the unthinkable and return to the company he left in 2014.

He could feud with absolutely anyone in WWE and it would be massive, but having him come out at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania would be one of the most seismic returns in wrestling history.
