4. Cody Rhodes

It's important at this juncture to reaffirm that fantasy is at play here. No, Cody Rhodes isn't beating down WWE's door for a return, and neither does he need to. A key part of the Bullet Club in New Japan and having a ball promoting his own events like All In, Cody is a self-made success outside the WWE bubble.

That doesn't mean he wouldn't improve WWE television.

Think about it: Cody, without the strangling Stardust gimmick that had him eager to rip up his contract, has become one of wrestling's best all-rounders. The man gets how to present himself as a star (no dust needed), has shown his vigour for playing an old-school heel and is having the best matches of his career.

Those matches could and should have happened under WWE's watch. As an overbearing jerk, Cody would be brilliant against Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins or AJ Styles. He's a similar size to all three of those men, has fire in his belly and newfound confidence to work like a top guy.

In a perfect world (from WWE's perspective), he'd be earning them money with those skills.
