10 Wrestling Segments That Accidentally Filmed Things You Weren't Meant To See
2. Sid Ruins The Illusion
Sid is the Man.
Much of this is nostalgic and or ironic posturing, it should not go unmentioned. The memories of Sid are far more powerful than the reality of even Bret Hart struggling to cut him down in compelling fashion at In Your House: It's Time.
Sid worked precisely one (1) good match that didn't involve flaying a jobber in the early '90s, and Shawn Michaels had to bump more preposterously than he did normally in order to arrive at it. Sid was an amazing and intense presence, first and foremost, and his innate idiocy informed the unbridled joy that was his character. His short, explosive temper, which was often brought on by an inability to understand the situation, was very intimidating.
Sometimes, however, Sid was simply too dumb.
This was the case in a legendary promo botch that, to several wide-eyed innocents, revealed the existence of the pre-recorded promo. Which Sid thought he was cutting. He was not; as Jim Ross infamously advised, he was live, pal.
Sid was unable to wrap his tongue around the word "skeptics," and got totally lost before requesting a re-take. When he learned that this wasn't possible, he couldn't improvise by saying something along the lines of "I'm Sid you oaf, I can do whatever I want!"
He just meekly apologised.
Poor fella.
