10 Wrestling Sequels That Were Even Better Than The Originals

5. The Revival Vs #DIY (NXT TakeOver: Toronto)

The Revival had cruelly deprived Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano of tag title glory in a spectacular Brooklyn encounter earlier that year after Dash and Dawson targeted 'Johnny Wrestling's leg in order to earn a tap-out victory.

It was a stirring encounter that proved the challengers were good for one more shot, but they'd set the bar high ahead of the 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at November's Toronto supercard. After a Shatter Machine and Meet In The Middle positioned both teams at 1 win apiece, it fell to #DIY to find a way to tackle the best tag team in the world.

A raft of dramatic nearfalls followed, with the challengers trying everything to topple The Revival after they again lasered in on Gargano's bad leg.

The finish was one of the most memorable in recent history, as Gargano trapped Scott Dawson centre-ring with a crossface whilst Ciampa countered Dash Wilder's attempt to break things up with a hold of his own. The champions tightly gripped each other in an effort to avoid the submission loss, but couldn't hold on. Staring ruefully at one another, they tapped together, remaining fiercely united to the bitter end.
