5. Lacey Evans' Pregnancy
Very clearly a Vince McMahon story because he seems to find the same roles for women over and over again in wrestling, Lacey Evans found a new way to get under the skin of rival Charlotte Flair in 2021. At first, flirting with Charlotte's Father Ric seemed like a playful use of her feminine wiles to further the feud but on the February 15th episode of Raw the storyline took a very weird turn.
Teaming with Peyton Royce against Charlotte Flair and Asuka, Evans refused to tag into the match for reasons that became apparently clear when - mid-way through the bout - she backed away from the ring. The Southern Belle then shocked the world by announcing that she was pregnant, implying that Flair was the Father as he belted out "call me Daddy".
But later that night, after the show, it was confirmed that Evans was pregnant for real in her personal life and would be taking time away from the ring. For some reason, WWE had decided to add it to her burgeoning story with Naitch... without really thinking about where to go next with it.
It was like the company figured this generate great heat for her future WrestleMania bout against Charlotte... which obviously didn't happen because Lacey was legitimately pregnant.
