How you remember it:

Daft, unforgettable midcard fun!

Val Venis began an affair with the wife of Kaientai stable leader Yamaguchi-san as part of his sex-crazed porn star gimmick. This of course drew the ire of the faction, who were later joined by Taka Michinoku following the reveal that she was his sister. Honestly, the very obvious exposition of this twist was significantly funnier than the angles, the most unforgettable of which saw the stable attempt to castrate Venis in revenge. He was saved by the infamous John Wayne Bobbitt and a bit of "shrinkage", which meant that the sword missed the intended target.

What it was actually like:

You may remember the beats as they played out, but you might not be aware of how icky this sh*t actually was. The woman who played the adulteress - whom Yamaguchi-san threatened to paddle and was filmed in bed, post-coitus, with Venis - was just seventeen years old (!). Moreover. Bobbitt wasn't quite a babyface. He was an abusive piece of sh*t, but was briefly perceived as the victim of a woman who was simply "crazy".
