REPORT: WWE Set To Lower Ticket Prices This Summer (WWE News)
WrestleMania 42 could be the tipping point for WWE's inflated ticket prices.
CM Punk's fiery shoot-style promo on Monday's episode of Raw could be a teaser for things to come, at least on the ticket pricing front. WWE has taken a ton of flak for inflated costs tied to attending their events, but it looks like WrestleMania 42's staggering asking prices could well be a tipping point.
The Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez said that Punk's speech (during which he took aim at everyone from Vince McMahon and TKO to Pat McAfee!) made it "obvious" that "WWE is looking to lower ticket prices through the summer". Most fans will greet that thought with an almighty cheer, especially those with young families/children.
It has never been more expensive across the board to attend shows like Raw or SmackDown, and some of the PLE prices are so bloated it's become ridiculous. Of course, WWE/TKO have been feeling the cost (ahem) of their own strategy due to lower-than-expected sales for this year's 'Mania.
However, it's worth stating that bringing the weekender back to Las Vegas for a second year running will have something to do with the internal struggle to shift tickets too.
WWE has leaned on celebrities and a guest host appearance from the recently retired John Cena to try and punt some more seats for Allegiant Stadium. Post-WrestleMania, and certainly heading into the warmer months, it looks like the organisation will finally throw the towel in on their increasingly-inflated approach by dropping prices generally.
Maybe that means people won't need to remortgage the house just to attend Raw. Those lofty prices were always going to be unsustainable.
