Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton could never be blamed for possessing killer physiques, but bulging muscles weren't part of their charm as a duo. The Rock N' Roll Express were underdogs who fought valiantly against larger men by using slick double-team moves and teamwork.

One of the top tag-teams of the 1980's, Ricky and Robert needed one another to be valuable. Leave it to WCW then, because that company believed there was money in a feud between the well-established partners.

Morton turned on Gibson at Clash Of The Champions XV in June, 1991 to align himself with The York Foundation as a heel. From there, the ex-partners feuded with one another, but it was clear that fans wanted to see them tear the house down together and not as singles wrestlers.

Why WCW felt the need to split such a successful team who were clearly better off together than apart is anyone's guess. Thankfully, The Rock N' Roll Express reunited in 1992 shortly after leaving the company.
