10 Wrestling Tag Teams That Were Never Going To Work

8. Tons Of Funk

Plenty of thrown together tag teams could make this list, but Brodus Clay and Tensai have earned entry due to how amazingly underwhelming the mere thought of them ever teaming together was.

Now sometimes two people are brought together as an experiment and it works, like Booker T and Goldust. Other times, we know it will fail...like I don’t know, let’s just pick a few random teams...how about Prince Albert and Droz, A-Train and The Big Show, The Hip Hop Hippo and Scotty 2 Hotty, and Albert and The Big Boss Man. Wait a second...I’m sensing a pattern.

The idea of Tons of Funk was likely something along the lines of someone in creative saying “Hey, let’s take Brodus Clay, you know the act that was popular for about two weeks about two years ago, and then pair him up with Tensai! You know, the guy that wasn’t over for a single second upon his return? It’s just gotta work!” This was likely meant as a joke, but Vince McMahon saw dollar signs.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
