10 WWE 2016 Spoilers We Already Know

10. The Women's Championship Will Supplant The Divas Title

The term "Diva" in relation to the women's division in WWE is a dated one. It has no business in the sport anymore, not when there are strong women, with wrestling backgrounds, pouring their time and energy into changing fan perception of the sport. "Diva" was a term that the company used to hide the weaknesses of its women, those who came from other walks of life to find success in the industry. And it worked then. Maria Kanellis, Michelle McCool, Candice Michelle and Kelly Kelly are just a few who thrived in that era. But times are changed. There is a certain expectation when it comes to female performers. Today's women are strong, they are independent and they care less about looking good and starring in reality shows than they do about proving themselves as the best wrestlers in the business. Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Bayley, Becky Lynch and Paige have all stated in various interviews and social media posts their desires to see WWE reinstate the women's championship, essentially doing away with what is the insulting representation of years past in the Divas Championship. They would not be allowed to be so open in their interviews, suggesting that return is even a possibility, if WWE was not at least considering it. By the end of 2016, expect to see the return of the WWE Women's Championship and the latest, greatest era in the uneven history of the title.
