10 WWE & AEW Wrestlers Set For A Big 2023
9. MJF
When it comes to those who will have a big year in All Elite Wrestling, let's start with the most obvious one.
MJF is the the pillar of AEW. Sadly for the others, Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara have had a stunted year and Jungle Boy's heated feud with Christian Cage has hit an unfortunate speed bump in the form of the veteran's long-term injury. But MJF's stock has never been higher.
Coming off the back of the two best feuds of 2022 in his rivalry with CM Punk and the falling out with Wardlow, MJF has proven he is the best thing on episodic wrestling television outside the Bloodline saga. Masterful promos, exceptional character work and probably the most underrated in-ring talent in the age of the super worker.
In the fallout from the All Out scrum implosion, Tony Khan needs a big win. The cries of ex-WWE guys have been loud, none more so than from MJF himself, and the AEW owner knows that the best way to stem the tide of those arguments is to promote his homegrown stars. A number of midcard straps are currently held by those who have grown within AEW, but now it's time for the big one.
Hangman Page's chase was great but his subsequent reign was poor, and there is little doubt that the 'Salt of the Earth' holding the top strap will be gold. And, as we head to the 'War of 2024', it means 2023 will be the year where MJF feels like a megastar.
