10 WWE & AEW Wrestlers Who Have Benefitted From The Empty Arena Era

9. Darby Allin

Adrenaline is a big part of what allows a wrestler to do what they do, to absorb nasty punishment in a predetermined fight and sacrifice their bodies to tell a story. When the audience goes away, many would find it hard to summon the willingness to take such risks. Not Darby Allin.

The former TNT Champion and skateboard enthusiast has been a standout figure for AEW, not least for his willingness to take wild bumps before tiny crowds or no crowd at all. He’ll fling himself down unforgiving steps, leap from bridges, and allow his opponents to throw him around like a rag doll.

The slight performer feels legitimate; he’s one of the least physically imposing wrestlers on the roster, but through sheer moxy he’s been a believable and backable champion, and has helped push Miro to the next level in AEW after a slightly slow start from the former Rusev.

Darby's matches are always eminently GIFable - a recent Suicide Dive being particularly compelling viewing - and his pairing with Sting has brought the best out of both the youngster and the veteran alike. Darby Allin is simply guaranteed entertainment.
