Despite dreadful ring attire which made them look like a hideous hybrid twixt Roddy Piper and The Ascension, Glenn Ruth and Chaz Warrington managed to achieve a modicum of success as metal-heads Mosh and Thrasher of The Headbangers.

However, a serious knee injury to Thrasher curtailed their run in 1999, and Warrington obviously couldn't continue in singles competition as just Mosh. Can you imagine? A repackaging was in order.

Naturally, the first thing that came to Vince McMahon's mind was an incestuous mother-son gimmick based on 1960s comedy Leave It To Beaver. Rechristened 'Beaver Cleavage', Warrington exchanged sexual innuendos with his 'mother' Mrs. Cleavage (Marianna Komlos) in a series of vignettes as uncomfortable for viewers as the performers.

At the height of Russo-mania, the former Mosh derided the gimmick in a convoluted worked-shoot angle, as the theme of domestic violence was introduced to an already unspeakably awful affair.

A returning Thrasher finally put everybody out of their misery, as he revealed Komlos to be fabricating her battery claims. After much headbanging from fans in their absence, The Headbangers were mercifully reformed.

Isn't it odd that an incest angle didn't get over? And not even for the first time.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
