10 WWE Attitude Era Moments You Totally Don't Remember

3. The Blonde Bytch Project

If you thought the WWF was a spiteful old boys club, you'd be right - but never have those two aspects of the company's culture merged together so overtly as they did with the (quickly abandoned) Blonde Bytch Project storyline.

On the August 23, 1999 RAW, the Blue Meanie was seen watching something on his computer in his room. He referenced the Blair Witch Project. "The true story?" he was asked, to which he replied: "That ain't a true legend - but if you want to hear about a true legend...come here...have you heard of the legend of the Blonde Bytch?"

Meanie asked Stevie Richards to get a camera and head to the Iowa woods to dig up the dirt on the legend. The idea, and this was filmed but canned, was for Ed Ferrara to dress up and do Sable's grind. For some reason. Basically, after Sable left the company in acrimonious fashion, and later sued for sexual harassment, the WWF (or a certain writer from it) wanted to call her a bitch. It was as simple and as bleak as that.

Vince McMahon, miraculously, put the kibosh on the storyline, feeling it was in a bad taste.

No, of course not: he simply hadn't heard of the Blair Witch Project.
