10 WWE Attitude Era Stars & Their 80s Counterparts
2. Undertaker / Andre The Giant
This comparison has been made for decades. The first locker room leader and the most famous locker room leader. The Eighth Wonder of the World and The Phenom both occupied a similar role both in front of the camera as well as behind it. Andre's participation in arguably the biggest wrestling event of all time, WrestleMania III is well documented and sold the show. The Undertaker carried a similar badge of honor involving WrestleMania by amassing an undefeated streak that had become synonymous with the event itself. Andre can lay claim to the 93,178 that graced the Pontiac Silverdome when he was defeated by Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker had the record of 21-0 at WrestleMania before falling to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX. Both moments were among the biggest of company history. Aside from their greatest in-ring achievements, Andre and The Undertaker were viewed by fans as bigger than life, not just physically. Constantly protected throughout their careers, the two men seemed to be like two ships passing in the night. Andre's main event career ended in 1990 while The Undertaker's legendary run had only just begun. The two men never wrestled each other, but if there was ever a dream match that would've symbolized a true "passing of the torch", it would have been Andre the Giant vs. The Undertaker. As it is, both men are revered like no other and stand in a category all to themselves.
