10 WWE Attitude Era Stars & Their 80s Counterparts

8. Mr. McMahon / Million Dollar Man

While some might argue Jack Tunney, the former President of the World Wrestling Federation, was a more similar parallel to the owner Vince McMahon, and Tiger Ali Singh a more likely match to Ted DiBiase, they were both more of supporting characters. In Tunney's case, he was only called on for brief periods of time. During the Hogan era, the Million Dollar Man was a wealthy, egocentric maniacal man of power obsessed with controlling anyone that crossed his path. Sound familiar? DiBiase came in as a main event superstar and throughout the next decade would square off against the top level superstars of his time: Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes and of course, Virgil. In the Attitude era, Mr. McMahon took on a more focal on-screen character following the infamous Montreal Screwjob. Throughout his villainous career, McMahon would do battle with Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Mankind and Triple H. While Vince would try and control whomever represented the the company as its champion, DiBiase also attempted to control the title by purchasing it and later, establishing his own custom title, the Million Dollar Championship. McMahon had cronies like Slaughter, Patterson and Briscoe; DiBiase had Virgil and later Sensational Sherri, and as his "benefactor", Brother Love. The two men abused their power and financial status much to the chagrin of the fans and were always working with the best of the best. Often the focal point of the company's television programming, DiBiase and McMahon were undoubtedly the top heels of the WWF for many years.
