1. Vince McMahon (September 1999- September 1999)
In quite the most shocking and disgraceful display of egotism by Vince McMahon ever (and boy does that cover some ground) the chairman of the board awarded himself the WWE title in 1999 during a feud with Triple H. That's right folks, whilst in the process of trying to promote Triple H as the new company super heel Vince decided it would be a good idea to have him get beat by a 50 year old non worker. Staggering. To make matters worse Vince then immediately vacated the belt which was then won by ...Triple H, meaning Vince wasn't even using himself as a transitional champion, his title reign had literally no purpose. This was far and away the biggest insult to the WWE title and its history since its inception and it is no great surprise that it was the brainchild of the owner of the company that caused it. Triple H deserves some credit here for trying to make the best of it but ultimately this was a disastrous moment for the WWE title and one WWE has attempted to gloss over ever since.
