10 WWE Champions You Didn't Care To Hate

6. The Miz

The Miz Wwe Title
WWE

The Miz. Where to begin? Miz is a true marmite character, used as a paragon of professionalism by those that love him and an object of ridicule by those who don't. No matter which side of the fence you sit on, the man is a future WWE Hall of Famer, although how that ranks will also depend on whether you consider the HoF to be a legitimate recognition or Vince McMahon patting himself on the back.

Still, The Miz. A two-time WWE Champion, but both reigns have been desperate struggles for credibility, struggles that eventually failed. Miz had a decent amount of momentum going into his first reign, but that was quickly snuffed out when he was booked as, well, The Miz. His second reign should never have happened and served only as a bridge to get the title onto Lashley ahead of WrestleMania 37. By the end of the year, it had been forgotten.

There is always going to be a place in wrestling for characters like The Miz. Unfortunately, that place is not at the top of the table. Miz as WWE Champion has been a recipe for ambivalence, leaving fans twiddling their thumbs before the real champion takes over.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
