10 WWE Face/Heel Turns That Must Happen In 2021
5. Candice LeRae Turns Face
NXT has had a major issue with prominent heel turns over the last few years. Since the incendiary turn of Tommaso Ciampa against tag partner Johnny Gargano, NXT creative has been looking for ways to top themselves and mostly failing. In recent memory, we've had the heel turns of Finn Balor, Pete Dunne, Dakota Kai, Toni Storm, Santos Escobar, Io Shirai and several others, most of which have not made a significant impact on the black and yellow brand.
One of the most baffling transformations from good to evil came in the heel turn of Candice LeRae, which occurred during the One Final Beat match and turned the NXT women's division's most natural protagonist into a villain for no major reason. It didn't add to the story of the match and LeRae didn't become the top heel of Wednesday nights, losing her title shots against Io Shirai and taking several major losses since turning bad.
While she's grown into the role well, working great with Gargano as a heel couple, she is clearly more comfortable as a babyface and should embrace morality at some point in the near future, especially since the heel run hasn't lead to championships.
