10 WWE Feuds We Didn’t Know We Needed (Until We Got Them)
9. The Usos Vs. The Shield
This was the making of The Usos.
Before this feud, Jimmy and Jey were a WWE afterthought, little more than another team in one of the darkest eras for tag team wrestling in WWE. The brothers spent the first half of 2013 on Main Event and Superstars, trading wins with the likes of Hunico & Camacho, 3MB and Tons of Funk. Money in the Bank was around the corner and things weren't exactly getting better as the duo lost as many matches as they won, a 50/50 run that included a loss to Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on an episode of SmackDown, a match that lasted just under two minutes. A squash.
The Shield were utterly dominant at the time. Rollins and Reigns were WWE Tag Team Champions and they had long run out of teams to defend against, so it looked as though fans were in for a couple of months of the duo running through the joke teams of the division, until something better came along. The Usos got the nod, but nobody was particularly excited about it all.
For some reason, WWE decided that this was the time to go all-in on Jimmy and Jey. Teaming with Christian, they became just the second trio to defeat The Shield, before putting on an absolute banger on the Money in the Bank pre-show. The Usos went from being a non-entity to credible players, kicking off in earnest one of the great WWE tag team careers.
