10 WWE Feuds Where The Wrong Person Won

4. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton

2009 saw Randy Orton on the rise as an immensely evil heel, the sort of character fans had been crying out for him to portray since his ill-advised face turn after splitting from Evolution. A natural villain, he tore into the McMahon family, punting Vince in the head, RKOing Stephanie, and staking a claim to Triple H's WWE Championship.

The stage was set for the main event of WrestleMania XXV, a match which would surely kickstart Orton's rise to become the greatest heel of the era. The match was unfortunately an underwhelming one, and drew a mixed reaction from fans burned out by the five-star Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels classic that had taken place a short time before.

However, the result of the bout was far more offensive than its average nature.

Triple H beat the tar out of Orton in the closing stages of the match, smashing him with a sledgehammer and several Pedigrees en route to the most decisive of victories. Randy would win (and lose) the title several times over the following few months, but such a huge loss on the grandest stage of all denied him a career-igniting moment.
