7. The New Day

In various interviews, Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods have reminisced about butting heads with Vince McMahon over The New Day's direction. Initially cast as well-meaning babyfaces, the trio were try-hard goodies in colourful outfits who were always going to grate on fans. That's when the 3 wrestlers made a change.

Embracing the hate, New Day kept acting like they were in the right despite growing jeers and fan resentment coming from the stands. Suddenly, WWE's creative team realised what was going on and began booking New Day accordingly. So entertaining were the threesome as cheating heels shoving their 'ba-dum tish' comedy in people's faces that the worm started to turn again.

Woods, Kingston and E saved The New Day gimmick by doing their own thing. They deserve a lot of praise for getting silly ideas like 'unicorn horns' and a trumpet over with fans. The fact they've remained relevant for years without hinting at a break up proves they were right to change tact.
