Everyone likes to pretend that a stunning ladder bout pitting The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and Christian at No Mercy 1999 changed the tag-team in WWE forever. Not quite. To put things into context, the then-WWF decided to book such sterling duos as Viscera and Rikishi on pay-per-views.

Yes, they actually teamed at Armageddon' 99. Look it up.

One tag-team signing would change everything though. The Dudley Boyz arrived a few months earlier during the summer and, following a stuttering start (no pun intended), began to mould the tag ranks to their liking. At Royal Rumble 2000, Bubba Ray and D-Von had a thumping tables match with The Hardyz. Then, of course, TLC and more mayhem ensued.

Lame tags like Viscera and Rikishi, as well as baffling acts like 'Head Cheese' boys Al Snow and Steve Blackman, fell by the wayside. The WWF didn't need that crap - they had a team capable of rounding out the division alongside other bump-happy pairings.
