10 WWE Icons Who Had Totally Forgettable TNA Runs
6. Randy Savage
Randy Savage is one of the biggest icons in wrestling history. Instantly recognizable to several generations of fans, his run in the 1980s speaks for itself, and his work in WCW in the mid-to-late 90s is incredibly underrated. After he left WCW, played Bonesaw in Spider-man, and released a rap album, it was four and a half years before Savage would find himself back in the ring in TNA.
After years of flirting with a return and using the press to fufill his favourite pastime of baiting Hulk Hogan, Savage finally made his comeback at Victory Road 2004. Dressed in a long leather trench coat and accompanying cowboy hat, he then quit the company 2 days after debuting because who else but The Hulkster was backstage. This would summarize his time with TNA, as Savage's brief stay was littered with backstage discrepancies, outrageous demands, and little in the way of actual wrestling.
In fact, Savage would only work one match for TNA, a disastrous 6-man tag with AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy against the Kings of Wrestling team of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett. Savage did not appear at the start of the match, leaving his team a man down. He eventually arrived midway through the bout to receive a hot-tag from Jeff Hardy, before pinning Jeff Jarrett with a punch to the face. Yup. He won his only TNA match with a punch to the face. WrestleMania 3, it was not.
