10 WWE Legends Who Ruled Suplex City Before Brock Lesnar

5. 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams

Long before Brock Lesnar was throwing German Suplexes around and devastating all of his opponents, that role was filled by one of the toughest and most legitimately dangerous men in pro wrestling, €˜Dr. Death€™ Steve Williams. Though he made a name for himself during his short tenure in WWF with his legitimate toughness, Gutwrench Powerbomb, and impressive German Suplexes, his other claim to fame was a move so terrifying it was never used in WWF. A Belly-to-Back Suplex on steroids: The Backdrop Driver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxanIU_8Ka0 Also known as a Dangerous Backdrop or a Homicide Backdrop (for good reason), Williams would lift his opponents for a Back Suplex and drop them on their heads, necks or upper shoulders. This was the epitome of All Japan€™s €˜head-drop era€™, where wrestlers would take such incredibly dangerous moves with sickening regularity. It should come as no surprise that Williams defeated some of the best wrestlers in the world with this dangerous Suplex, including Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Toshiaki Kawada, Stan Hansen, and many others. He won many awards and accomplishments in Japan, including the prestigious Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, by Suplexing his opponents with this vicious move. In hindsight, it€™s a good thing he never faced Steve Austin like he was originally supposed to. If he did, and he brought out this move, Austin€™s neck injury could€™ve been much worse.
