10 WWE Legends Who Should Have Won The Royal Rumble But Never Did
5. Eddie Guerrero
It may be surprising to read that Latino Heat only appeared in two Rumble matches, in 2003 and 2005. So where the hell was Eddie the rest of the time? In 2001 Eddie was injured, in 2002 he had just been fired and in 2004 he was wrestling nephew Chavo on the undercard. Although his popularity was on the rise in 2003, Eddie would not have been a credible Rumble winner at that time. Fast forward a year, however, and it's a completely different story. Eddie was knocking on the glass ceiling in 2004, gearing up for a title programme with Brock Lesnar. Eddie beat Brock for the title at No Way Out and, while the victory was undoubtedly special, it could have meant more if there was a longer chase. An alternative way of booking Eddie's title triumph would have been for Eddie to win the Rumble in 2004, have Kurt Angle beat Brock at No Way Out and set up the match that way. Eddie did win a mini-rumble on Smackdown in February 2004 (last eliminating Angle) to bag the title shot against Lesnar after Benoit was stolen by Raw. But it's not really the same though (although the mini-rumble is really good). Eddie had a decent Rumble showing in 2005 but he was floundering in the midcard at that point, teaming with Rey Mysterio against the likes of the Basham Brothers. Still, Eddie's elimination at the hands of Edge provoked the loudest boos of the entire evening. Had Eddie not died in November 2005, it is entirely plausible to think that he would have won the 2006 edition of the Rumble. Rey Mysterio won the Rumble that year, coming out in a lowrider and dedicating the victory to his late friend.
