10 WWE Match-Ups That Were Better In Another Promotion
9. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Chris Jericho
For years WCW's main draw was the eternal struggle between their own establishment and the New World Order. The cruiserweight division sat comfortably away from all that, resigning itself to delivering the best match on any given card.
At Fall Brawl 1997, a young Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero fought for the Cruiserweight Title. The match was given enough time to show the two young stars' technicality ability and ring-psychology, with Jericho working as a pure babyface while Guerrero grabbed for the hair as a frustrating heel. Dave Meltzer spoke highly of this match, noting both wrestlers' technical acumen as they shifted seamlessly in and out of grating submission holds.
In WWE though, Guerrero and Jericho rarely matched up. They had one pay-per-view match at Insurrextion 2000 for the European Title, with Chyna at ringside, significantly shorter than their encounter in WCW. Chyna's interference took away from the match as a whole, especially to fans who knew what Guerrero and Jericho could do by themselves.
This entry is particularly tragic with the premature death of Guerrero in 2005. Considering he was marked for great things before passing, one would have to consider the real possibility of another rematch, this time with the two getting all they needed to make a classic.
