10 WWE Matches Guaranteed To Put A Smile On Your Face

7. Shawn Michaels Vs Triple H (Summerslam 2002)

After four years away from active competition, any in-ring return for Shawn Michaels would be enough to cheer up a wrestling fan. To come back with a new outlook and go on to have the best run of his career was unexpected, but more than welcome.

Michaels’ back injury and behind the scenes issues were well documented, but HBK came back to the WWE a changed man. Unsurprisingly the first person he wanted to work with was his old DX buddy Triple H, and at Summerslam 2002 they put on a long, bloody street fight to top one of the WWE’s best pay per views.

The goal was clear: to show the world that Michaels hadn’t lost a step, and they achieved this with gusto. The icon hurls himself around the ring, gets busted open, pulls out some vintage ladder spots, and sells the significance of the stage better than just about anyone before or after.

There was more to come from Michaels, of course, with several defining WrestleMania matches and even a title run down the line, and with that in mind, this comeback is all the sweeter.
