10 WWE Matches John Cena Absolutely MUST Have In 2025
10. An All-Star Team-Up
John Cena has wrestled exactly 10 matches (four televised) in the past three-plus years, so it’s fairly likely he will have a good amount of ring rust as he gears up for an entire year of appearances.
The easiest way to tackle this problem is to “hide” Cena in a tag team where he can stand on the apron, get the hot tag and run through his offense on multiple opponents, garnering a huge reaction and looking as sharp as ever. While a team with a “young lion” should still be in the cards for 2025, that shouldn’t take place right out of the gate.
Instead, why not fold Cena into the bubbling rivalry between Rey Mysterio and the New Day? Rey has the LWO at his side, but it’s not hard to envision a scenario where Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods target the other stable members as a jab at Mysterio, leaving the Hall-of-Famer without backup… until Cena steps in to assist.
After all, Cena does owe Rey from 2011 when he challenged Mysterio for the WWE Championship he had just won earlier that night. Plus, a heel New Day taking out the LWO and assaulting Rey, only for Cena to come to the rescue is (as Michael Cole would say) vintage Cena. The match would likely have insane heat and strongly re-establish Cena as a babyface player.
