10 WWE Matches That Were Recklessly Dangerous

3. Barbed Wire Matches

This is a little bit of a cheat as the only technically recognised Barbed Wire match in WWE history was the Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match between JBL and Big Show from the 2005 No Way Out, a match so plodding and stagnant that Big Show could've crotched himself on the barbed wire and likely suffered no lasting damage. Instead, Barbed Wire has found itself featured usually in Hardcore or Street Fight matches over WWE's history, some notable examples include: Foley vs Triple H from the 2000 Royal Rumble, Foley vs Orton from Backlash 2004, the 6-person inter-gender tag match from ECW One Night Stand 2006 and Triple H vs Shawn Michaels from Armageddon 2002. A staple of ECW's rise to fame, there's very few ways to justify Barbed Wire as a necessity in professional wrestling. Capable of not just skin wounds but punctured organs, both Triple H, Foley and Edge all took unprotected Barbed Wire shots to the face in their careers. The danger here is supreme. Blindness, punctured nasal cavities and, of course, severe blood loss. Put simply, barbed wire is a weapon that never should've been used.
