10 WWE Matches That Outshone The Royal Rumble

1. Triple H vs. Cactus Jack (2000)

The 2000 Royal Rumble has already been detailed on this list, initially being mentioned for entry number 10. The event bookends this article with the match that topped even that brilliant Tables Match between The Hardy Boys and The Dudley Boys, a WWF Title Street Fight between Triple H and Cactus Jack. Injuries to both Steve Austin and The Undertaker at the end of the previous millennium meant that WWE needed some guys to step up and fill those spots. Mick Foley, as Mankind, had been a tremendous main event talent, and it was only natural that Triple H would reach the top spot someday - stepping up in the best manner possible, HHH was made during his feud with Foley. Some may point to the infamous Hell In A Cell showpiece at No Way Out the following month, but the epic Street Fight between Foley, as Cactus Jack, and Triple H from the Rumble in January, 2000 should not be overlooked. Quite frankly, these men put together a titan of a brawl, made even more special by the hallowed surroundings of Madison Square Garden. On a great card, with an excellent Rumble match closing out the show, this No Holds Barred match stands proud as the highlight of the entire night. What other non-Royal Rumble matches which have taken place on Rumble cards do you feel managed to outshine the 30-man main event itself? Which matches are you looking forward to on this year's show?
